Our channels: sources and licences
Besides the broadcasters it lists, Global Radio plays 2 channels of its own, made only of public-domain recordings. No presenters, no ads.
The rule every recording passes
- The music: the composer died before 1956, so more than 70 years ago, or the archive files the work as traditional.
- The recording: released into the public domain by whoever held it (CC0 or a public-domain statement), or old enough to be out of copyright, as stated by the archive that published it. The link to that statement is kept for every recording.
- A recording with any of this missing or contradicted is left out, not assumed.
The channels
- Classical: 278 recordings, about 25 hours
- A century ago: 327 recordings, about 18 hours
